Games With Most Tedious Opening Levels

They say the “first impression is the last impression”. But there are some games with really annoying opening levels, that leave a lasting impression on you. Here are 7 of them

Skyrim

The very first stretch of the game is long, slow and you don't really interact much with the game. Since this game is known for mods, there are literally mods that let you skip past that intro to get you to the real fun.

If you come from the first installment of the series, this game's opening will not make sense. That's because this and the first game were PS exclusives, whereas the little known intermediary between the two was launched only on Gameboy Advance. Ugh!

Final Fantasy XIII

THE TUNNEL! That one, long, super straight, never-ending patch of the map that just keeps going on. And you don't interact much with NPCs or do any dungeon crawling, two things that the franchise is known for. The combat is fun, though.

NieR: Automata

This game has a really good prologue, until you realise you can't save it! Yep, no checkpoints. And if you die anywhere in the prologue, you'll go back to the start after an hour-long sequence! And if you're playing this on the hardest difficulty, forget it.

Read Dead Redemption 2

So this game is really awesome, a sprawling, beautiful open world with tons of easter eggs. But to get to that, you need to sit through this long, cutscene and a few story missions that can make anybody lose their mind if they are re-playing the game.

Fallout 2

The first question that comes to your mind when playing this is ‘why is there a giant temple in a post-apocalyptic world? And the second is ‘when will this really dry, boring opening sequence end?' Seriously, it has nothing to do with the rest of this game.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

This is one really long, interactive cutscene that actually holds most of the story of the game. The rest of the game is open-world stealth combat without much story content, which means this is the bulk of it. Better get some cushions and popcorn.
