2020 saw a bunch of exciting releases, but some of the good games were actually free. Here are 7 games across platforms that were free-to-play in 2020.

Valorant

One of the best FPS releases of 2020, it takes some elements from CS:GO and just a hint of Fortnite and Apex Legends. The gameplay is fun and the community is non-toxic.

Although it is technically an “idle” RPG game, it does require you to actively play a lot, not just to level up but to move, explore and target enemies. But it's fun nevertheless and free on Steam.

Warzone

This is perhaps the best looking free game of 2020. The graphics are drop dead gorgeous (if you have a good system to play it on), and you get a much more intense COD multiplayer experience.

Heart of Deimos - Warframe

This is an open-world expansion for Warframe, a totally free FPS game. Featuring a world based on the second moon of Mars, it is all about shooting at shrieking, pulsing, oozing, and dripping creatures.

WWE Undefeated

WWE Undefeated has a clever mash-up of card battlers and fighting games. It is a side scroller fighting game with licensed WWE wrestlers. The only downside is that it is marred with microtransactions.

Star Wars: Starfighter Missions

This mobile flight shooter offers 80 iconic starfighters with great graphics absolutely free (okay, there are some in-game transactions but it's totally playable without that too).

eFootball PES 2020 Lite

This game is the stripped down version of the original PES 2020 game, except it doesn't quite feel like a “demo”. myClub, PES' version of FUT, is the main focus of this version of the game.
