- Gets uncomfortably hot
- Very loud fans
Asus has diversified its ROG Zephyrus line of super-slim gaming laptops to reach different price and market segments. While the Zephyrus S models are still designed to be as slim and powerful as possible, the Zephyrus M and Zephyrus G varieties are aimed at more mainstream and entry-level buyers respectively. They're still relatively slim, but not to a degree that drives the manufacturing complexity and therefore the cost up to stratospheric levels. They also don't get the very highest-end hardware, like the S series. Today, we're reviewing the Zephyrus M GU502GU, which strikes a balance of power, size, and cost that should appeal to quite a lot of gamers.
Asus ROG Zephyrus M GU502GU Summary
The Asus ROG Zephyrus M GU502GU sits just below the flagship Zephyrus S series in Asus' slim and light gaming laptop lineup. It's very portable at under 2kg, but has more modest hardware and a relatively appealing price. The highlights of this laptop are its 144Hz full-HD screen and its up-to-date hardware including a 9th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU.
The design is somewhat sober, but appealing. The keyboard has per-key RGB backlighting but there's not much gamer flair otherwise. You get plenty of ports on the sides, including USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C and Type-A ports, but there's no SD card slot. Surprisingly, Asus has ditched the webcam too, in order to reduce the screen border width.
Performance is good overall, and games run smoothly. Unfortunately, the Zephyrus M GU502GU's cooling system is somewhat inadequate. Not only does it get uncomfortably hot, but its fans are very loud when they spin up.

Premium gradeRajdeep Thakur (Sep 2, 2019) on AmazonAsus is charging a 10-20k premium for looks and its brilliant chasis. The keyboard is seriously good; as for the rest features, the specs speak for themselves. It has a 1660ti standard version and not max-q (max-q is inferior version which generally is used in slimmer laptops). It overclocks really smoothly to 1935mhz no probs. It may heat up, but the keys and handrests are not tht hot. Overall, insane packageIs this review helpful?
