Globalspace, an Indian software and solutions firm, isn't a well-known name in the hardware market. The company has dabbled in the low-cost Android space before, and has now come up with a device that it claims is the first of its kind, a "3-in-1" tablet. Obviously a play on Intel's 2-in-1 marketing strategy, this device is claimed to work like a tablet, laptop or desktop, with the appropriate accessories connected.
The relatively unknown GlobalSpace Technologies is selling the Solt, a "3-in-1" tablet with the kind of wraparound keyboard case/stand we've seen before, but also a totally unique desktop dock. The dock adds extra ports, speakers and even an optional hard drive to the tablet's own capabilities. However, it feels like an afterthought and there are occasional connection issues. The tablet itself is reasonably capable and will suffice for basic tasks, though the keyboard stand is somewhat awkward and uncomfortable to use. If you need an affordable touch-capable Windows machine for casual use, we'd suggest buying the tablet and keyboard without the dock.
