Apple starts free repair for iPhone 6s suffering from unexpected shutdowns
Apple has started a new free repair program for iPhone 6s owners whose devices suffer from “unexpected shutdown issues,” within days of a discounted repair initiative for defective iPhone 6s Plus displays. The iPhone 6s free repair program is for certain units that were manufactured in September and October 2015. The devices affected by this issue apparently used to shut down automatically and did not turn back on, effectively getting bricked.

Modi Keynote prank app goes viral
A prank app that claimed to detect if a new Rs. 500 or Rs. 2,000 note is fake or not caused a lot of confusion among consumers in India, before being pulled from Google Play app marketplace over the weekend. The Modi Keynote app used the smartphone’s camera to determine if the currency note being scanned was authentic or fake.

The Modi Keynote app apparently played video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech against black money if the note was real, and did not play anything for notes it determined as fake. However, the Modi Keynote app was developed as a prank and couldn't really distinguish between real and fake notes based on scans. A number of copycat apps have cropped up on the Google Play marketplace since Modi Keynote app was removed.

Reliance Jio SIM home delivery program details emerge
Reliance Jio SIM cards will now be delivered to your home as part of the company’s new pilot programme. The initiative, first rumoured in September, is being rolled area-wise in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, and Visakhapatnam. You will be sent an invite to schedule a Reliance Jio SIM delivery at home; however, users cannot request invites, and Reliance employees will not be able to refer people either. Instead, Reliance will distribute invites to 'influencers' it has discovered.

Nokia’s Android smartphones set to be unveiled at MWC 2017
Nokia’s Android smartphones are likely to make their debut at Mobile World Congress in February 2017 as HMD Global – the company with the exclusive global license to sell Nokia-branded smartphones and tablets – has confirmed its presence for the event. Rajeev Suri, the CEO of Nokia, is also a keynote speaker at the year’s biggest mobile expo. HMD Global and Nokia are expected to showcase 2-3 Android-based smartphones at the event.

Samsung brand remain undamaged in US by Galaxy Note 7 recall, finds poll
The recall of Galaxy Note 7 will not deter US buyers from purchasing another Samsung smartphone, according to a poll. The survey says that 91 percent of the current Samsung users will buy another smartphone by the company, and 92 percent said they would buy another product made by Samsung. While some respondents were not aware of the recall, 27 percent of the respondents said they would first consider a Samsung handset.

Samsung, which is offering Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge as a replacement for Galaxy Note 7, also said in a statement that its Galaxy S series smartphones are safe and that there have been no confirmed cases of battery failure on the devices. This comes after several cases of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users claimed their handsets exploded and causes injury to them.
