The Adobe Photoshop Touch app for iOS and Android just got updated to version 1.3 bringing Retina display support for the new iPad.

The app, which allows users to create and edit images, now displays sharper, crisper and clearer images and text.

The iOS version of the app can now work with print-resolution images up to 12 megapixels in size (10 megapixels for iPad 2), with up to 16 full-size layers in a single file. To work with so many layers at such a high resolution is a big achievement and folks at Adobe "can't wait to see what you create with it".

The default resolution is now 4.2 megapixels with 10 layers. Android users get a 1600 x 1600 pixels as default, though the maximum resolution has been increased to 2048 x 2048 pixels.

Both versions of the app include two new effects called Shred and Colourise, three-finger tap to toggle between 100% and fit screen and two new language additions, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese.

While the iOS version has Apple Photo Stream support, Photoshop Touch for Android adds two new tutorials along with Watercolour Paint, HDR Look, Soft light and Soft Skin effects and support for automatic synchronisation with Creative Cloud.

Besides these, there are other bug fixes and performance improvements.

New users can download Adobe Photoshop Touch from the Apple App Store ($9.99) and Google Play Store (Rs. 555.55) while existing users can enjoy the free update.
