With iOS 8.4, Apple had removed support for its Music Home Sharing feature. However, Apple Senior Vice President for Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue confirmed to a Twitter user that Apple is 'working' to restore Music Home Sharing feature in iOS 9.

It is being speculated that Apple didn't initiate the changes necessary with record labels before launching Apple Music and that is the reason why they had to cut off the feature lest they face any problems. It is always better to steer clear from licensing issues and Apple is not one to let that slip under the rug.

Essentially, Home Sharing is a feature that lets you share your iTunes library across your home Wi-Fi network with other devices. This eliminates the need for multiple iTunes libraries and is especially useful for people who are invested in the Apple ecosystem with multiple devices in the same house. With iOS 8.4, it only works for video content.

If you still want to share music across devices for now the only option is to sign up for iCloud and you get two options iTunes Match or iCloud Music Library. iTunes Match costs Rs. 1,200 a year and let you access your iTunes library which is stored in the cloud. Similarly, iCloud Music Library, which requires an Apple Music subscription, does the same but adds the ability to listen to your music offline.

Although, you might want to hold off on using iCloud Music Library because some users have reported of glitches that are causing the deletion of songs and playlists from the iTunes library.
