  • Google Trips app was released last year

Google Trips app was released for Android and iOS mobile platforms last year by the search giant with the aim of simplifying the organisation of travel plans and accommodations for users. Now the California-based company has updated the app with some really useful features that are likely to increase its utility manifold. The update is already available for download on App Store and Google Play.

While the travel app was already able to fetch flight and hotel reservations from your Gmail inbox, it will now automatically organise all your past and upcoming train and bus (surface public transport) reservations in one place inside the Google Trips app alongside other reservations.

With this update, Google has added a new feature to the app that allows users to stay up-to-date with their reservations even when they don't get confirmation on their mail. Users need to just press the '+' button in the bottom right corner within the reservations section and provide their airline and flight number, or the name of your hotel, car rental, or restaurant. The Google Trips app will then take care of the rest and will keep you updated with the changes even if they are not confirmed through mail. If you want to make free-form notes, the app will also allow that option to you.

Notably, users will now also be able to share their travel information with other users with the help of the app. "Anyone you share with will receive an email with all the reservation details, and see them in the app too," the company said in its blog post.

Google Trips allows users to download their trips in advance for offline use and with this feature, users can find nearby spots to see, check hours and locations for attractions, and review their saved places even when connectivity is a problem. "On average, nearly a quarter of Trips users are offline for more than seven hours at a time while travelling, and nearly 70 percent use the offline feature and download trips in advance," the search giant said.

Additionally, the company has shared the eight destinations that saw a rise in popularity over the last year. The list includes Venice, Barcelona, Athens, Lisboa, Vancouver, Montreal, Santiago, and Denver.
