  • Keyboard can be oriented towards both left and right side
  • Keyboard has shortcuts for cut, copy, and paste
  • Feature has allegedly been present since iOS 8

The launch of smartphones iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus marked an important step for Apple as the company increased its long-standing 4-inch screen size significantly to 4.7-inches on the former and 5.5-inches on the latter. There were many people who were sceptical about the size of the smartphone and if leaks are to be believed, it seems like Apple had already started working on features to make the transition smooth from the iPhone 5s.

Developer Steve Troughton-Smith has found a hidden one-handed mode inside the code of iOS, which he claims has been there since iOS 8. This hidden mode essentially lets the user type on the iPhone keyboard with one hand, with a new layout for the keys. Users can customise the keys towards either left or right orientation. This feature can be activated by a simple swipe from the side of the keyboard, Smith pointed out.

As per the pictures and video posted by the coder, there are options of cut, copy, and paste at the side of the keyboard as well. Smith has provided instructions to enable the one-handed keyboard mode but this procedure will only work if your device is jailbroken.

Apple has still not officially pushed out the feature and we will have to wait and see if the Cupertino-based company will include this feature in its future updates or not.
