LocalOye, a mobile marketplace to discover and connect with local service providers, announced the launch of its operations in Gurgaon. The launch covers six main services in the home maintenance category, with 300 registered vendors already on board.

According to CEO Aditya Rao, the service will target tech-savvy working class professionals who do not have the time to research and connect with service professionals in their locality. "We will initially introduce one of our fastest growing categories to Gurgaon - home maintenance. This will include service professionals like electricians, plumbers, home cleaning services, pest control services and appliance repair services." he said.

LocalOye claims to match customers with trusted and verified professional service providers on more than a hundred categories, using what it calls an advanced recommendation engine. Once the requirements have been posted, the vendors are notified and given user details like budget, location, and timing. After a service provider accepts the lead, LocalOye connects both the vendor and customer. The app also lets you chat with service providers to further define your requirements.

LocalOye will also look at category expansion in Gurgaon by building a strong pool of quality vendors present across various service categories like health and fitness, home maintenance, education, and events.

Founded in 2013 as a marketplace for events, LocalOye has since pivoted to the marketplace model, covering 100+ categories with 7,200 merchants, claiming to have serviced more than 1,50,000 customers in Mumbai and Bangalore. The Android app on Google Play has registered over 100,000 downloads. The firm raised $5 million (roughly Rs. 32 crores) in a funding round led by Tiger Global and Lightspeed Ventures in April 2014.
