Twitter on Wednesday launched the Cricket World Cup 2015 timeline ahead of the start of the tournament on Friday.

The launch was announced on the micro-blogging site via the Cricket World Cup official account and Twitter. The Cricket World Cup 2015 tournament timeline offers the latest tweets, photos and match schedules from #CWC15.

Abheek Gupta, Senior Product Manager, Twitter, in a blog post detailed the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup timeline. "Given the millions of cricket fans who are on Twitter, we wanted to create something that would let you follow and participate in this global event," Gupta said.

The Cricket World Cup timeline is now available on the updated Twitter for Android and iPhone apps while the desktop and mobile Web versions are live on Twitter.com. For iPhone and Android apps, users will have to search for #CWC15 or the official match hashtag such as #IndvAus or #IndvPak.

The blog adds, "A match timeline will come alive for every game so you can see all the score updates as well as tweets related to that game from within your network or official accounts. If you aren't already following your favourite players or teams playing that day, simply click on their country flags or player names to see their Twitter accounts."

This is not the first time Twitter has announced a dedicated timeline for a cricket event, as the micro-blogging website last year launched an India-Sri Lanka ODI series-focused timeline in partnership with BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).

Prior to this, Twitter and BCCI introduced a campaign in honour of Sachin Tendulkar, which offered fans across India and the world a rare opportunity to receive a personalised picture of the retiring batsman.
