Uber, an Internet Age taxi and ridesharing service, is for one day offering to deliver ice cream at your doorstep for in 144 cities across 38 countries and 6 continents. The list includes India, and on Friday, July 18, between 11am and 5pm IST, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune customers will be able to avail the offer.

Uber app users can order ice cream from their account money by selecting the Request Ice Cream option in the app. Request will only be fulfilled "if a vehicle is available", said Uber on its blog.

Users in New Delhi will have to pay Rs. 700 for Haagen-Dazs Belgian Chocolate and Strawberry sundaes, and they will also get a Rs. 300 discount coupon, which they can use on the next Uber ride, and some more goodies. Billing as usual will occur in-app.

The UberIceCream service is a once-a-year event, similar to Father's Day helicopter rides. Notably, the company has been offering the UberIceCream service from time to time for a couple of years in different countries.

Last month, the company had started a new low-cost ridesharing service called UberX. It kicked-off on June 25 in three cities - Bangalore, Hyderabad and New Delhi.

Users of the Uber app can use the service with the new option UberX at the bottom of the app's screen, which they have to slide to from UberBlack (the regular priced version). About the pricing of the UberX service, it differs in respective cities, however, in each case, base fare, fare per kilometre, minimum fare, and cancellation fee is lower than the UberBlack service. Uber has also added a Split Fare feature in the service to make it more affordable to customers.
