Fujifilm introduces Fujinon XF lenses for X-Pro1

Fujifilm has globally introduced two lenses, a bright F2.8 super wide 14mm (21mm in 35mm equivalent) single focal length lens and a bright F2.8-4 zoom lens that covers the shooting range of 18mm to 55mm (27-83mm in 35mm equivalent), in addition to the three single focal length lenses in the first series of Fujinon XF lenses.

Five more lenses will be added to the collection in early 2013, taking the total number of lenses in the series to 10. India pricing and availability of the lenses remains to be seen.

Speaking on launch, Mr. K Tanaka, Managing Director, Fujifilm India said, "Since the launch of X-Pro1 in January 2012, we had been receiving huge number of request concerning interchangeable lenses from the users. With the support of our R&D team we are on the verge of introducing new line in the category of interchangeable lenses."

The company also confirmed it will exit India's ultra low-cost (ULC) market, where models are priced below Rs 4,000, within next three months to improve revenue generation. The company said the fall of the rupee had affected the margins of the ULC cameras, prompting the move. (See: Fujifilm India to exit low-cost camera market)
