Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords released to critical acclaim on December 6, 2004. It was also met with outrage at the time due to having shipped with a host of bugs and poor production values. User modifications like The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod (TSLRCM) created by a rabid fanbase fixed almost 500 bugs and restored content that was cut from the game.

Fast forward to almost 11 years after its initial release and the game has been updated officially. Disney, along with LucasArts and Aspyr - a company known for its ports of Windows games to Mac and Linux - has announced a gigantic update that includes support for PlayStation 4 controllers and 5K resolution. According to the game's Steam page, the full feature list is as follows:

• 37 achievements to be earned through gameplay.
• Steam Cloud saves.
• Native widescreen resolution support.
• Resolution support up to 4K and 5K.
• Support for controllers, including Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, and Playstation 4, along with several others (check the system requirements for details).
• Steam Workshop support. Aspyr worked with the Restored Content Mod Team to have the TSLRCM up and running.

Also, the company added a "Force Speed Effects" option in the menu.

It's always nice to see support for an existing game from its own creators. While PC gamers have been spoiled for choice of late what with GTA V and The Witcher 3 receiving a constant stream of support, for publishers to revisit a game as old as Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is a welcome move. Even more so when you consider that its prequel, which was on the receiving end of greater critical acclaim (and an Android and iOS release) hasn't had its PC version updated to such a degree. Hopefully, that's next.
