Nintendo has said very little about its upcoming console, the Nintendo NX. But that hasn't stopped everyone from marketing firms to retailers and even employees at big video game publishers like Electronic Arts from sounding off on the console.

The latest on the Nintendo NX comes from Moon Studios CEO, Thomas Mahler, ranting on the Japanese company's silence on the console to developers. Moon Studios was responsible for last year's enjoyable Ori and the Blind Forest on Windows PC and the Xbox One.

"This is actually THE singles most annoying thing for every dev out there. We also talked to Nintendo and got absolutely nothing - I'll never understand that," he said in a post on popular gaming forum, NeoGAF. He then proceeded to say that it isn't just Nintendo either. Other console makers are just as bad.

"And just to be clear, it's not just Nintendo, every hardware manufacturer is treating their devkits and their unreleased consoles like they're the second coming and are insanely secretive about it to a stupid degree in todays time," his comment continues. "It's not even that the hardware isn't finished (duh), but you could at least give me the goddamn specs, so we'd know what to build shit for!"

Perhaps what's most damaging is his thoughts on the software support for the Nintendo NX or lack thereof.

"What's needed to sell hardware is goddamn good software. With Nintendo not having any devkits out there at this point and probably even wanting to sell it in 2016," he said. "I can already guarantee that they'll just not have any software support, since nobody can just jumble games together in less than a year. I mean, you can, but it'll be garbage."

While it's poor form for a developer to resort to outraging in public, it's also symptomatic of the issues plaguing most game makers these days. According to Mahler, a common platform for keeping developers in the loop is important as well as information on hardware specifications at the very least, something that doesn't really happen at this stage.
