Supergiant Games, maker of critically acclaimed role-playing games (RPG) such as Bastion and Transistor, has announced its newest title - Pyre.
Like other Supergiant titles that came before it, Pyre will be a RPG and the developer is calling it party-based. It will continue the isometric action look and vivid art direction Supergiant has used earlier. And keeping in the trend of delivering titles every three years, Pyre will arrive in 2017 and will be available for PlayStation 4 and Windows PCs.

"In Pyre, you lead a band of exiles through an ancient competition spread across a vast, mystical purgatory," the company wrote in a blog post. That ancient competition is known as Rites, and the character you will inhibit knows a little about the secretive event. As it helps the "worthiest exiles" be cleared of any transgressions, you will be making the journey across the Downside - that's what the land is called in Pyre - meeting all sorts of other characters on your way.
"[The game] showcases our team's commitment to rich atmospheric presentation and storytelling, along with a distinctive gameplay blend that combines expressive decision-making on the world map with fast, action-packed confrontations against rival groups of exiles whose own freedom is at stake. We want to create a large cast of characters you can grow close to as you travel together across a strange and wondrous land," Supergiant added.
Not much else is known at this point, so have a look at the 1 minute 40 second teaser below to whet your appetite.
