Titanfall, last year's slick sci-fi robot multiplayer extravaganza, is getting a sequel. And this time around, it will be available for the PlayStation 4 along with the Xbox One and PC - compared to its predecessor that was available for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC only.

Vince Zampella, founder and CEO of Respawn Entertainment, developers of the game, confirmed that it will release on multiple platforms. According to reports, Titanfall bolstered sales of the Xbox One by 96 percent in primary markets like the UK. No doubt this move would have Microsoft hoping it retained some semblance of exclusivity.

"I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don't know anything about it, or... yeah. So we're working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we're working on that. That's the main focus but we're starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It'll be multi platform," Zampella said speaking to IGN.

Respawn did not confirm a single-player campaign but Zampella did allude to expanding the game's universe. One of the original's biggest grouses was the lack of single-player content, and it will be interesting to see if that is included when Titanfall 2 hits.

While there's no release window, let alone release date given for the sequel, it's good to know that one of 2014's most promising games is being given another shot to get things right with a sequel.
