The manufacturer of the popular head and earphones line, Beats Audio, had recently entered the online music streaming arena, when they launched their Beats Music service for users. However the streaming service has stopped all registrations with effect from January 23, citing a sharp spike in the demand for the service.

As of now, users are met with a 404 error message if they try to subscribe to the Beats Music service (whether via the web service, or the apps). However the app links to the stores do open. It is only when a user tries to activate the subscription when the error is encountered.

Beats Music, have not made it easier, because it has yet not declared a date when they will resume the services for new subscribers. In fact, it has even mentioned that the step to shut registrations temporarily has been taken, because the spike in demand was anticipated. The service had begun on Tuesday, January 21, and users also have the option of listening to the songs online and offline.

Featuring over 20 million songs, and now available for Android on Google Play, Beats Music was launched for iOS, and is available on the iTunes store. The Beats Music page also announces a January 24 launch of the app for the Windows Phone platform. Beats Music now says that once the service is available again, they will give the users an extra trial-week. It was initially available for a free seven-day trial, and the service cost per month was $9.99.

The service made news because of the ability to understand what the user's mood is and even create a playlist customised to the mood, surroundings, or the people that the user was with. The statement issued by Beats Music read, "We prepared for issues like these, have a plan, and are going to hold off on letting more people in while we put this plan in action."

For those who have managed to register prior to the freeze, they can still use the Beats Music service. For the rest, there is a long wait and watch period till it decides to stop the freeze out and open doors for music aficionados to walk back in. We also wonder at the timing of the freeze, just ahead of the Windows Phone app launch
