Google recently revealed their Project Glass, which will churn out Terminator style heads up glasses. The release was marked by a cool video demo, in which the company showcased some pretty crazy stuff and if you had any doubt about them becoming a reality anytime soon, this statement from Project Glass product lead Steve Lee should satisfy you.

"I can say that we definitely didn't put out that video with the intention of it being some futuristic video that's many, many years away. In terms of what's running on the device right now, several of those things that you see in the video, we do have prototype versions of those," Lee told FastCompany.

But the heads up glasses with Project Glass technology aren't just around the corner and might take some time to reach stores. According to Lee, the rumours of this year launch are very aggressive and they still have much work to do.

Lee also points out that a photo-taking experience is a key aspect of Project Glass. Google has been highlighting some photos taken by the heads up glasses at the recent Google+ Photographers' Conference on the official page of the project and some of them really stood out.

"But, also the mapping and navigation and location services will really bring a new type of experience on this device," Lee added.
