Online classifieds website Quikr has announced support for seven Indian languages on its website. With this, users can now browse, search, post ads, and interact in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, and Marathi, the company said, in addition to English.

Quikr is working towards making its platform more inclusive, said Anurag Saran, Chief Product Officer, adding that the feature would be relevant to 88 percent of India's non-English speaking population. Users can access the new languages versions on both the desktop and mobile web.

"With Indian Internet expanding beyond air-conditioned offices and homes and into the streets of the country, local languages are definitely the next frontier for us. I strongly believe that language should no longer be a barrier for people seeking to transact online," said Pranay Chulet, Founder and CEO, Quikr in an emailed statement.

One of the highest funded Indian Internet companies this year, Quickr acquired Indian Realty Exchange, a mobile-first aggregator of real estate agents in November, and real-estate analytics platform Realty Compass in December.

Quikr, which acquired unicorn status (companies valued over a billion US dollars) this year, is also rumoured to be in talks to acquire real estate property listing portal Commonfloor.
