Home Minister Rajnath Singh Friday launched a Delhi Police web application which will help Delhiites apply for and get a police clearance certificate (PCC) online.

Singh said this application will help the people who require the PCC for emigration or employment.

Launching the application at Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan, Singh asked the Delhi Police officials to ensure that they honour their uniform with their high quality of conduct.

Singh also asked the policemen to earn faith and confidence of the people through delivery of work and assured them of his assistance.

"I will provide all assistance and guidance to the Delhi Police to make them as the most modern police force in the country," Singh said.

He mentioned that the difficulties experienced by the people to obtain PCC will be addressed with the issuing of this certificate electronically.

Expressing full confidence in Delhi Police, Singh said that about 100,000 people are expected to benefit with this scheme annually.

He congratulated the force for adopting high technology in policing.

Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi also showed the presentation on PCC and explained different e-applications adopted by the Delhi Police for lodging of reports of lost items and a cell-phone based application by the traffic unit of Delhi Police that were launched Feb 27 and May 8, 2014 respectively.

Bassi said that presently PCC is issued by district Deputy Commissioner of police, which requires the applicant to visit the office of the official at least twice but now there will be no such need.

He said the applicant will be able to apply from anywhere in the world online without being required to visit the office of the DCP.

"Once an online application is filed and online payment is made, the application will be suitably processed and a printable, digitally signed police clearance certificate would be sent to the applicant on his email within seven working days," Bassi said.

He also added that PCC request will bear a unique number which can be used for future search and retrieval within a specific period.

Lt. Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung, Home Secretary Anil Goswami, Director of Intelligence Bureau Syed Asif Ibrahim, Chief Secretary of Delhi S.K. Shrivastava and other senior officials of the home ministry and Delhi Police were present on the occasion.
