Apple has announced the launch of the new MacBook Pro featuring the Retina display at its annual developer conference.

At 0.71 inches (when closed), the device sports a thinner design like the MacBook Air. To achieve this, Apple replaced the DVD drive and the traditional spinning hard drive with flash memory storage. As a result, it is also lighter at 4.46 pounds compared to its normal MacBook Pro model.

There is no Ethernet port on the device. Users will have to use either a Wi-Fi connection or purchase an Ethernet adapter and connect it to the machine's Thunderbolt port.

Speaking at the keynote, Apple CEO Tim Cook said, "The MacBook Pro with Retina display pushes the limits of performance and portability like no other notebook." The laptop is priced at $2,199 or $2,799 depending on the configuration and will be available in India starting Rs. 1,52,000.
