Essential's Bezel-Less Smartphone Spotted With Snapdragon 835 SoC in Benchmark

Android co-founder Andy Rubin's near bezel-less display smartphone continues making headlines though there has no confirmation when the device will be officially revealed. A new smartphone believed to be Essential's near bezel-less Android device has been spotted on GFXBench.

A device with model name Essential FIH-PM1 has been spotted on GFXBench, and believed to be manufactured by Foxconn. The listing tips the handset to run on Android 7.0 Nougat and be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor clocked at 2.2GHz. The benchmark hints Essential FIH-PM1 will feature 4GB of RAM and come with 16GB storage. It is further said to sport a 12-megapixel rear camera alongside an 8-megapixel front camera. The screen resolution of the handset is listed as 1312x2560 pixels. The benchmark listing was first spotted by Mobiltelefon.ru.

Essential's bezel-less smartphone is widely expected to be reminiscent of Xiaomi's Mi MIX smartphone, which created waves in the tech world last year for its near bezel-less display. We will have to wait for a confirmation on the launch and availability of the Essential FIH-PM1.

Earlier this year, Android co-founder Andy Rubin revealed his plans to launch smartphone under Essential company which has been working on a smartphone with a large edge-to-edge screen. Rubin shared the first picture of the device on the Twitter last month. Based on first look of the device, it looked to feature similar design as Mi MIX smartphone and was seemingly running Android.

Eric Schmidt, Alphabet's Executive Chairman, had confirmed that the first Essential phone will be running Android after all. It shouldn't come as a surprise that the phone being developed by the co-founder of Android.
