There seems to be a lot of buzz regards to the next Google Nexus smartphone. Only recently there were news regarding LG working on a Google Nexus 5 prototype, which has been codenamed "Megalodon."

As per PhoneArena, the Google Nexus 5 will be very different from the LG Megalodon. The website further goes on to claim that Google Nexus 5 will come with a "triple camera sensor thing" along with a Nikon branding. As per the current leak, it seems that Nikon will be contributing some photo-capturing technology to the mobile. As per some rumours, HTC was earlier planning to adopt this technology for their flagship HTC One but the company settled for ultra pixel technology instead.

It is noteworthy, that even last month, there was news that Google Nexus 5 will come with a differentiated camera. This piece of information was shared by Vic Gundotra, Google's Senior Vice President of Engineering. In February 2013, while replying to a question, Vic had posted on his Google+ page that, "we are committed to making Nexus phones insanely great cameras. Just wait and see."

Considering that most flagship smartphone from Samsung, Sony and LG come with a 13-megapixel camera, it is expected that the Google Nexus 5 camera too might be in the same range.

This is not the first time that Google and Nikon will be joining hands to work on a device. The two companies had recently worked on Nikon Coolpix S800c, which was one of the first Android-based cameras. This camera comes with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) on-board.

PhoneArena via its anonymous tipster also claims that Google Nexus 5 will come with a 5-inch screen with a 1080p display. The smartphone will have Snapdragon 600 processor along with 2 GB of RAM. Google Nexus 5 will allegedly offer two internal storage options - 8GB and 16GB and will have 3,140mAh battery. This smartphone will run on Android 5.0, which is expected to be released by Google at their I/O conference.

Google's current iteration of Nexus smartphone is made by the Korean smartphone maker LG.
