It is the time of year when you normally expect to see a new Nexus smartphone from Google. The last Nexus "Galaxy Nexus" was also unveiled in October last year. Now, a report from Android and Me is claiming that Google will release next Nexus smartphone in the next "30 days," citing industry sources familiar with the matter.

According to the blog, these sources also claim that the upcoming Nexus has already been leaked in the press without specifying the device. Despite the surprisingly low number of Nexus rumours and leaks this year, we have seen quite a few reports and LG or HTC branded Nexus seems a like a big possibility.

Next Nexus smartphone?
A recent report suggested that Google has turned back to the original Nexus maker HTC, to build the upcoming Nexus phone. It will reportedly be sporting a 5-inch display, entering the phablet category. Other specifications are expected to include 1080p resolution, quad-core Qualcomm processor, 2GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage without any microSD card support.

Another rumour circulating around the web is pointing towards a LG built Nexus phone, given that LG never got a chance to build any Nexus device, it is very much possible. The rumour also claims that the upcoming Nexus will be based on company's recently announced Optimus G smartphone (probably with slightly different specs).

LG Optimus G sports a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus display with 1280x768p resolution, Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5GHz quad-core processor, and 2GB of RAM.

Next Android version?
Normally, Nexus announcements are accompanied by new Android version and we expect to see the same with upcoming Nexus phone. Android and Me's report states that next Nexus phone will run on Android 4.2, a new version of Jelly Bean, not a full blown major Android release.

Android 4.2 makes sense, given Jelly Bean was announce just a few months ago and is yet to reach significant number of devices. We can expect to new features, but nothing major.

When?
The "30 days" time period isn't so long, but when exactly is the question. There is no major industry event happening in the next 30 days, but if we take it down a notch, All Things D is organising its Dive into Mobile conference on October 29-30, 2012 in New York, which seems like a decent contender for the launch. Previously also we have seen Google executives showing off new devices at All Things D events and without any major Android version launching, a separate event does not make sense.

Andy Rubin, Senior Vice President, Mobile and Digital Content, Google is already scheduled to be a speaker at event.

While all this is speculation right now, we expect to get some sort of confirmation in the days to come, may be a teaser?
