Chinese handset maker Huawei is all set to launch a new smartphone in the Indian market. Dubbed as the Huawei Ascend G600, this smartphone is already retailing with online portal Snapdeal for Rs. 14,990.

The Huawei Ascend G600 comes with a 4.5-inch qHD display (960 x 540). It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 768MB RAM. It runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and packs in an 8-megapixel rear shooter and a VGA front camera. There is 4GB of internal storage that can be further expanded to up to 32GB via a microSD card. Huawei Ascend G600 comes with a 1930 mAh battery.

Huawei had announced the Ascend G600 along with Ascend G330 and Ascend Y201 Pro at IFA 2012. The Huawei Ascend G330 started retailing in India in December last year for Rs. 10,999. It comes with 4-inch (800X480 pixels) IPS capacitive touch screen display. On the inside, it features a 1GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and a 5-megapixel auto focus camera with LED Flash.

The Huawei Ascend G600 will be competing with Samsung Galaxy S Duos, Sony Xperia U and HTC One V. Unlike the Ascend G600, Samsung Galaxy S Duos is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) smartphone. It comes with a smaller 4-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen and is powered by 1GHz Cortex-A5 Processor. It also runs on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and is currently retailing for a best buy price of Rs. 14,900.

The Sony Xperia U (Pics | Review), on the other hand, packs in 3.5-inch TFT Touchscreen and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It is powered by 1GHz Dual Core ARM Cortex-A9 Processor with 512MB of RAM. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and 1320 mAh battery. This smartphone is currently available for Rs. 13,990.

HTC One V (PicsIReview) is a slightly more expensive smartphone, which is available at a street price of Rs. 16500. It has a 3.7-inch Super LCD 2 touchscreen with a 480x800 pixel resolution. It comes with a 1GHz single-core processor with 512MB RAM. There's 4GB of internal storage and a 1,500mAh battery. It runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and has a 5-megapixel camera.

So if you are not too wary of the Huawei brand name, then Huawei Ascend G600 is a decent smartphone to consider.
