Intex on Thursday launched an affordable Android 4.4.2 KitKat-based smartphone in its Aqua series, dubbed Intex Aqua Y2 Remote, at Rs. 4,390.

The company is touting the device to be a universal remote that will work with various compatible home appliances.

"The Aqua Y2 Remote can be used as a universal remote for TV, AC, set-top boxes, DVD players, speakers and fans. Run on the application ZaZa Remote, users can select the list of product to be connected with the smartphone. The feature saves the model number for the products with which the function is operational. It allows the user to configure the phone as a remote with the synced model," says Intex.

The dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) Intex Aqua Y2 Remote features a 4-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) display. It packs a 1.2GHz dual-core (MediaTek MT6572) processor coupled with 512MB of RAM.
