Lava Mobiles has launched the Iris Pro 30 smartphone in India, priced at Rs. 15,999. The dual-SIM Android 4.2.2-based handset will be available on physical and electronic store shelves from the third week of January.

The Lava Iris Pro 30 features a 4.7-inch HD (1280x720 pixel) IPS OGS display (Sharp LCM500) with a pixel density of 312 ppi, and Corning Gorilla Glass covering.  It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, coupled with the SGX544 GPU and 1GB of RAM. Lava also mentioned OTA updates for the device, and we wonder if they will actually release an Android 4.3 or 4.4 update for it.

The Iris Pro 30 comes with an 8-megapixel rear BSI sensor camera with dual-LED flash, apart from a 3-megapixel front-facing camera. Built-in storage of 4GB is available, with microSD card expandability up to 32GB. It is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery with CABC (Content Adaptive Backlight Control), that is rated to deliver up to 4.5 hours of talktime, and 400 hours of standby time.

Connectivity features of the Lava Iris Pro 30 include 3G (HSPA+), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, Micro-USB with OTG, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Speaking at the launch, Hari Om Rai, chairman and managing director, Lava International, said, "We are elated with the overwhelming response around the launch of much awaited Iris Pro 30. Lava Iris pro 30 is a 'piece of art' especially crafted for those seeking smartphones that combine exquisite beauty and unmatched functionality."

"With the launch of Iris Pro series, we have expanded our offerings in mid to premium smartphones category. Iris Pro 30 demonstrates our commitment to excel in offering the best possible user experience. We are very excited with the consistent growth of the brand in India, and are confident of scaling newer heights in 2014, with our premium product portfolio", he further added.
