  • Other markets will get the Nougat update in "weeks to come"
  • Update will bring features like 'In Apps' and 'Multi-Window'
  • Company's LG V20 was first phone with Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box

LG ensured that it was the first company that offered Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box with its LG V20 smartphone. Now, the company has shown further commitment to provide the latest version of Android as quickly as possible and has started rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update, starting with its home country South Korea, for LG G5 users.

The company on Tuesday announced that it has started rolling out the update for LG G5 users and following South Korea, users in Americas, Asia, and other markets will be getting the Nougat treatment. Although the company did not announce a particular timeline for updates in respective markets, it has said that the update should be expected in "weeks to come."

"Most G5 users will receive notifications on their phones when the update is available. More information will become available locally in the weeks ahead," the South Korean company said in an emailed release.

Earlier this year in August, LG announced an Android 7.0 Nougat Preview Program for LG G5 users in South Korea, as a part of which 2000 applicants were selected by the company to test out the early build of the platform.

There are several features that will be added with the Nougat update including 'In Apps' feature, which allows users to carry out searches inside user-installed as well as preinstalled apps. Multi-Window feature allows users to run two apps side-by-side or switch between apps by just tapping twice.

"Getting software updates to our users faster than the competition is our way of demonstrating that LG is committed to supporting our products and customers to ensure they have a positive ownership experience," Senior Vice-President and Head of Research and Development at LG Mobile Kim Hyung-jung was quoted as saying in the release.
