LG G7 ThinQ, said to be the South Korean giant's next flagship handset, is scheduled to launch at an event in New York on May 2 followed by a launch in Seoul on May 3. While LG hasn't talked much about the features of the smartphone, on Wednesday it announced that the G7 ThinQ will be equipped with a "Super Bright" display that is claimed to have the "highest brightness" among smartphones from competing brands. Additionally, the flagship will also borrow the "second screen" from LG's V20.

In a blog post on Wednesday, LG announced that the LG G7 ThinQ would sport a 6.1-inch QHD+ (1440x3120 pixels) LCD display with a brightness of 1,000 nits and an 19.5:9 aspect ratio. According to LG, the 19.5:9 aspect ratio helps in the implementation of the second screen that can be used as a status bar for browsing notifications without having to switch on the display. For users who do not wish to use it, LG will provide the option to hide the notch giving the display a seamless appearance.

The Super Bright display will supposedly consume 30 percent less battery than the LG G6. Further, the display will get a "brightness boost" mode that will allow for comfortable viewing in sunlight conditions. Add to that, the G7 ThinQ is claimed to offer image quality adjustment based on usage environment and battery efficiency. The phone's "smart display" can also differentiate between picture quality modes according to the type of content being viewed. This includes an Expert Mode that allows users to adjust RGB balance, colour temperature, saturation, hue, and sharpness of the display.

In its recent set of leaks, press renders of the LG G7 ThinQ surfaced online courtesy of veteran tipster Evan Blass. The images clearly show a display notch, an edge-to-edge display, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a vertical dual rear camera setup. Further, previous reports have suggested that the handset will sport two 16-megapixel sensors at the back and be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. LG has also hinted that it will have a ton to say about the AI-based features on the G7 ThinQ at the launch event next week.
