The luxury smartphone maker Vertu had almost disappeared into oblivion after parting ways with Nokia. However, seems like the company is now back in the action and that too with an Android-powered smartphone.

The company has unveiled Vertu Ti smartphone, which looks much like the earlier Vertu smartphone. On the specs side, it comes with a dual-core 1.7GHz processor along with 1GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. For camera, there is an 8-megapixel camera rear camera that can click videos up to 1080p and a 1.3-megapixel front camera.

Vertu Ti sports 3.7-inches the WVGA screen and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The company has also added its own custom User Interface. The lowest model is Titanium Black Leather, which will cost $9,600. The company is offering three other models Titanium Pure Black for $11,500, Titanium Black Alligator for $12,800 and Black PVD Titanium Red Gold Mixed Metals for $19,900.

According to Vertu these smartphones have 184 individual parts, which are made by company's craftsmen in England; the body is made by Grade 5 titanium, and has a set of Bang&Olufsen stereo speakers.

"Vertu Ti is our most significant product for a decade. Android 4.0 delivers a proven and intuitive environment for users while the design and craftsmanship of the handset remains uniquely Vertu," Perry Oosting, Vertu president and CEO, said in a statement. "Vertu has pioneered and led the luxury mobile phone sector since we began in the late 90s and the great depth of our knowledge and experience can be seen in Vertu Ti."

It is a bit of surprise that Vertu has decided to make a comeback with an Android smartphone rather than Windows Phone 8. Additionally, this smartphone which is priced at $9,600 will be offering Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) out of the box and not the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
