Motorola and its much awaited smartphones have been garnering a lot of attention for the last few months. Though no one can say whether it is one device or an entire range of new devices that are being developed, that has not stopped the rumour mill from buzzing.

Now, Twitter user @evleaks has posted pictures of what appears to be Motorola's next flagship smartphone. In one of the images that showcases the back of the smartphone, the model name "XFON" can be seen. @evleaks has posted the caption "Blackboxed Motorola for AT&T", which indicates that this smartphone might be headed to telecom operator AT&T in near future.

Folks at PhoneArena, are claiming that these pictures are indeed real and have also added that XFON is indeed the Motorola X phone that's been talked about for a while and it bears the codename Ghost.

From the posted image it also appears that the smartphone has been placed in a large case perhaps to hide the actual form factor of the device.

However, from the picture it does appear that this smartphone will not have a large display like most flagship smartphones out there.

The current set of pictures are very similar to the pictures of Motorola smartphone that were posted a few weeks back on a Vietnamese site and later removed.

In April Jim Wicks, Design Chief at Motorola had shared that the company will be launching stock Android devices and has also indicated that, "if you like smaller form-factor devices or stock Android, you're going to be excited." From the images, it does appear that this smartphone has a relatively small display.

As per previous rumours, the next smartphone by Motorola will be powered by a Snapdragon 800 chipset and will sport a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 768x1280 pixels.

Google Executive Chairman, Eric Schmidt while commenting on the forthcoming line-up from Motorola had shared that they are "very, very impressive."

Schmidt made this remark while talking at the AllThingsD Dive Into Mobile conference. He further went to add, "They have a new set of products, which are phenomenal." He also mentioned that these smartphones should not be termed as just phones but "phones-plus."
