According to user reports, Google is rolling out an OTA update for Nexus 5 users in India to Android version 4.4.4_r2 KitKat, bringing some minor fixes. The update does not bump up the version number or bring any interface changes, but reportedly includes some bug fixes related to network carriers for the smartphone.

The reported roll-out of the Android 4.4.4_r2 update for Nexus 5 in India comes via Google+ user Manish Kumar, who posts a screenshot of the 'About phone' image of a Nexus 5 with build number changed from KTU84P (with the first Android 4.4.4 KitKat update) to KTU84Q. The user, who claims to have sourced the screenshot, also adds in the comments that the update is sized at 2.2MB.

Android Central reports that the new KTU84Q build of Android 4.4.4 KitKat for Nexus 5 is officially named as Android 4.4.4_r2, and addresses certain network issues.

While not much has been known about the update, it has been understood that the update is not only set for India, but will reach Australia and New Zealand regions also. "4.4.4 Release 2 (For 2Degrees/NZ, Telsta/AUS and India ONLY)" states the official version name of the update on the Google's Developer website.

To recall, Google introduced its Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS in India last month via an OTA update. The update that started with Google Nexus 5 majorly fixed security issues, specifically related to an OpenSSL bug. Few changes to Chromium Web browser and WebView were also made.

Sized at a minimal 2.5MB for Nexus 5 (Review | Pictures), Google's first Android 4.4.4 KitKat update has minor changes from Android 4.4.3 KitKat. Other than existing bug fixes, the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update did not include anything significantly new in terms of features and UI interface.

The Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS update came just within a month from the Android 4.4.3 KitKat OS' launch. The Android 4.4.3 KitKat update included several security enhancements and various bug fixes.
