Expanding its Asha range of smartphones, Nokia has launched the Asha 310, the first Wi-Fi enabled phone in the series to offer dual-SIM functionality. Nokia has announced that the phone will be available in Asia, India, the Middle East, Africa and Brazil starting Q1 2013, and will cost around $102, exclusive of local taxes or any operator subsidies.

The Asha 310 is a full-touch device and Nokia claims that the phone's 3-inch display is scratch-proof. The phone's shell comes in black, white and gold colour choices. It also sports a 2-megapixel camera, and has a microSD card slot for extra storage, with Nokia offering either a 2GB or 4GB card in the box. The phone supports microSD cards of up to 32 GB capacity.

The Asha 310 does not have a 3G radio and supports Internet connectivity through GPRS/Edge. The phone comes with preloaded email, Facebook, Twitter and eBuddy apps, in addition to Nokia Maps, which works online and offline. Nokia's also offering 40 free games from EA.

Nokia claims that the battery on the Asha 310 offers 17 hours talk-time or up to 25 days on standby from a single charge.

The Finland headquartered mobile handset maker refers the dual-SIM switching technology as 'Easy Swap' and has put the slot for the secondary SIM on the side of the phone, allowing users to put the second SIM without the need to turn off the phone. The phone also comes with a SIM manager app through which users can assign unique profiles for up to five SIM cards and define the SIM card they'd want to use for calling, sending text messages or for using Internet data.
