Nokia is pushing out a minor software update to its Nokia X Android smartphone. The new update version 11.1.1 is now rolling out OTA (Over-The-Air) to Nokia X smartphones globally and is currently available in India.

The key changes brought with the version 11.1.1 software update, compared to version 10.0.3, include various software performance improvements, and the ability to change third-party app tiles. The new software update for Nokia X is 16MB in size.

Nokia confirmed the roll-out on its Support Discussions page and said, "We have started rolling out a new update for Nokia X (RM-980): v. 11.1.1. This is a minor release and available via OTA (Over-The-Air)."

For those unaware, the Nokia X is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), and is powered by Microsoft and Nokia services.

Earlier on Tuesday, a report suggested that Nokia's first Android smartphone has been a smash hit in China. Nokia's first Android smartphone, the Nokia X was sold out immediately in China, according to some reports citing an online retailer. However, the report did not make it clear how many units were available for pre-order on the JD.com site.

Nokia announced its first Android smartphone, the Nokia X, for the Indian market at Rs. 8,599 earlier in March. The Nokia X was announced alongside the Nokia X+ and Nokia XL, at the MWC 2014.

The Nokia X offers dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) support with dual standby. The first Android phone from Nokia features a 4-inch IPS LCD display with a 480x800 pixel resolution, translating to a pixel density of 233ppi.

The smartphone is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, alongside 512MB of RAM. It sports a 3-megapixel rear camera. The Nokia X handset comes with 4GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

The Nokia X supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS, EDGE, GPRS and 3G connectivity options. It is backed by a 1500mAh battery, which is rated to deliver up to 13 hours of talk time and up to 672 hours of standby time on 2G network. The Nokia X is available in its Black, Green, Cyan, Yellow, Red, and White colour variants.
