Samsung's next flagship smartphone has been in the news for months and is expected to be unveiled at the upcoming MWC 2015 event, much like the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Now, citing "credible sources" SamMobile reports that the South Korean company is planning to use a touch-based fingerprint sensor on the Samsung Galaxy S6, instead of the swipe-based sensor seen on the Galaxy S5.

The report explains that the new touch-based fingerprint sensor will be able to enrol the entire fingerprint, "unlike the swipe-based sensor, which only partially registered a fingerprint."

The report further claims that the sensor on the Galaxy S6 will work in the same way we have seen on other recent, high-end handsets with fingerprint sensors, such as the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus as well as the Huawei Ascend Mate 7.

It adds that the new touch-based sensor will be built into the home button, much like the Galaxy S5, and that the button will be slightly bigger when compared to the one seen on the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4.

"With the new touch-based sensor, you wouldn't have to swipe your finger on the sensor any more; instead, you would just place your fingertip on the home key - at any angle - then lift it off, and that's it," it notes.

The report points out that the Galaxy S6's touch-based fingerprint sensor will come with similar features as the Galaxy S5 - in terms of software.

It lists some of the functions expected on the Galaxy S6 such as fingerprint unlock; Web sign-in; verify Samsung account; Private mode, and will also allow users to pay with PayPal.

A recent report tipped that the Samsung Galaxy S6 would feature a toned down TouchWiz UI, while the mass production of the handset will start next month.
