  • Samsung says Exynos 7570 improves CPU performance by 70 percent
  • Exynos 7570 uses 14nm FinFET technology, which is mostly used in high-end
  • Exynos 7570 supports screen resolutions up to 720p

Samsung has announced that it has begun mass-production of Exynos 7 Quad 7570 SoC, aimed specifically at budget smartphones. The unique selling point for the processor is that it uses 14nm FinFET technology, which is mostly used by the processors in high-end smartphones. The chip is also the first Exynos offering to come with all wireless systems integrated.

"Exynos 7570, with four Cortex-A53 cores in 14nm, delivers 70 percent improvements in CPU performance and 30 percent improvement in power efficiency when compared to its predecessor built on 28nm," Samsung said in its press release.

The Exynos 7570 SoC further reduces the total chipset size by up to 20 percent, which Samsung says will give manufacturers better opportunity to create slimmer smartphones.

The Samsung Exynos 7570 processor is capable of supporting screen resolutions up to WXGA (768x1366 pixels), record and playback of videos in Full HD and support for up to 8-megapixel front and 13-megapixel rear camera modules. It also sports an improved image signal processor (ISP). The company says the Exynos 7570 SoC is not just limited to smartphones, and it has been designed for Internet of Things devices as well.

"Being the first mobile AP in its class designed with the advanced process node, Exynos 7570 is also the first Exynos processor to fully integrate a Cat.4 LTE 2CA modem and connectivity solutions including WiFi, Bluetooth, frequency modulation (FM) and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) in one chip." Samsung said.

On Monday, the South Korean manufacturer launched Galaxy Note 7 in China with a Snapdragon 820 SoC, just like the US, instead of the Exynos 8890 SoC that is present in the variant shipping to almost all other regions.
