Xiaomi is holding its first major launch outside of its homeland China in New Delhi on Thursday. At the Siri Fort Auditorium in India's capital, the company is expected to unveil its next smartphone, which is tipped to be called the Xiaomi Mi 4i. The event will see CEO & Founder, Lei Jun, President & Co-Founder, Lin Bin, and VP Xiaomi Global, Hugo Barra, in attendance with a host of 'Mi fans' that have been invited by the company.
While there's no official word on the price and specifications of the phone, a couple of days before the launch NDTV Gadgets learnt that the phone will priced between Rs. 12,500 ($200 approximately) and Rs. 14,500 ($230 approximately). We would like to point our for the benefit of our international readers that is the contract-free price of an unlocked smartphone, in line with most other smartphones sold in India.
Unfortunately, we haven't received any fresh information on the specifications of the new Xiaomi smartphone, with the company using the last few days to provide hints on the build, battery life, and display.
As per the previous leaks, the smartphone is tipped to feature Android 5.x Lollipop, a 64-bit 1.65GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, Adreno 405 GPU, 2GB of RAM, a 4.9-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display, a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 4.8-megapixel front camera, and 16GB of built-in storage.
