Xiaomi is set to host a China event at the end of May where it is expected to launch multiple products. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed this on social networking site Weibo, while even asking fans on what they expect. Xiaomi is largely expected to launch the Mi 7 and the Mi 8th Anniversary Edition smartphone at the May event, and some users even expected the Mi Max 3 to launch alongside. However, Jun put all rumours to rest by confirming that the Mi Max 3 will not see the light of the day till July this year.

Xiaomi fans expected a Mi Max 2 successor as the smartphone was launched in May last year, so the refresh was assumed to come in May this year as well. However, Jun replied to a comment on the post that the Mi Max 3 is not ready yet, and will launch sometime in July.

To recall, previous reports had suggested that the Mi Max 3 is expected to launch at a price of CNY 1,699 (roughly Rs. 17,400). Recent rumours indicate that the handset will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. However, there is a chance that there might be Snapdragon 630 SoC variant as well. The battery capacity of the Mi Max 3 is said to be 5500mAh - larger than the 5300mAh battery on the Mi Max 2. The smartphone is expected to sport a 6.99-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is tipped to support wireless charging, and run on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo. The smartphone could have either a Sony IMX363 sensor or a Samsung S5K217+S5K5E8 dual camera setup. For the selfie camera, there will be a S5K4H7 sensor from Samsung. Interestingly, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 may also come with an Omnivision 2281 iris scanner.
