Xiaomi Redmi 3S to Launch in India Today

Xiaomi will reveal the price in India and availability details of the Redmi 3S smartphone today. On Tuesday, the Chinese company sent out media invites confirming the India launch of the smartphone will happen at 12pm IST on Wednesday, in line with our earlier report.

Xiaomi Redmi 3S was launched in China back in June and came in two variants based on memory and inbuilt storage - the 2GB of RAM with 16GB of inbuilt storage model is priced in China at CNY 699 (approximately Rs. 7,000), and the 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage model is priced at CNY 899 (approximately Rs. 9,000). The India price should be along similar lines.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3S is another variant of the Redmi 3, with the addition of the fingerprint scanner at the back. It supports a hybrid dual-SIM (Micro + Nano) slot, and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop-based MIUI 7. The Redmi 3S features a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display, and packs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor (with four cores clocked at 1.4GHz, and four cores at 1.1GHz) clubbed with the Adreno 505 GPU.

The Redmi 3S sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF (phase detection autofocus), f/2.0 aperture, HDR mode, 1080p video recording, and LED flash. There is also a 5-megapixel selfie camera with 1080p video recording capability. The handset is backed by a 4100mAh battery, measures 139.3x69.6x8.5mm, and weighs 144 grams.

Connectivity options on the handset include 4G, Wi-Fi, GPRS/ EDGE, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth, Glonass, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Micro-USB. The Xiaomi Redmi 3S was made available in Grey, Silver, and Gold colour options in China. India will be the first overseas market to get the Redmi 3S smartphone after its initial launch in Xiaomi's home country.
