You may now consider purchasing a device running Windows Phone 7. Why? Because Microsoft has finally launched the Zune Marketplace in India where users can purchase apps in INR (Indian Rupees). Microsoft claims that they have 36,000 registered developers and are adding 1,200 developers every week to the Windows Phone 7 portfolio.

As of now users can only download apps and may not have access to any of the other Marketplace features such as Zune Pass, videos and music which includes 11-million DRM (Digital Rights Management) free MP3 songs at 320kbps.

Up till now users in India who wanted access to the Zune Marketplace would have to register under the US and find some alternate mode of payment to download apps.

Even though Microsoft has pulled the plug on its Zune music player, the Zune Marketplace continues to grow in all Microsoft devices namely the XBOX 360, Windows OS and Windows Phone 7 devices.
