The first fencing related Google doodle was posted in the 2004 Olympics held at Athens. The doodle depicted two Greek Gods in a fencing duel with each other, which they seemed rather happy about.
During the 2004 Olympics at Athens, fencing was hosted exclusively at the Fencing hall in the Helliniko Olympic Complex . A total of 223 fencers (129 men and 94 women) from 42 nations competed at the Athens Games with Italy being ranked at the top of the fencing medal table .
In the 2008 Olympics held at Beijing, fencing competitions were held from August 9 to August 17 at the Olympic Green Convention Center with France grabbing the top spot bagging 4 medals, 2 gold and 2 silver.
It will be interesting to see what sport finds its place in Tuesday's Google doodle.
