After teasing the product, Xiaomi has now launched the Mi Home Security Camera Basic in India. With this addition, the company further expands its home security portfolio, as it already offers the Mi Home Security Camera 360 in the country. The Mi Home Security Camera Basic supports 1080p video recording and features a 130-degree wide-angle lens. The camera packs artificial intelligence (AI) powered detection engine, infrared night vision, and a talkback feature as well. Other features include secure local storage via microSD cards, and cloud NAS storage as well.

The Mi Home Security Camera Basic is priced in India at Rs. 2,299, but is listed on Mi.com for Rs. 1,999 as part of its introductory offer. Xiaomi has announced that the first sale of the security camera will be held at 12pm (Noon) IST on Mi.com February 14 i.e. tomorrow. It is available only in White for now. Mi.com has enabled a Notify button on its site for all those who need a reminder for the sale tomorrow.

Unlike the Mi Home Security Camera 360 which offers a 360-degree viewing angle lens, the Basic variant offers only a 130-degree wide-angle lens and is therefore a tad bit cheaper than the 360-degree variant. The Mi Home Security Camera 360 is priced at Rs. 2,699 in India.

The Mi Home Security Camera Basic, as mentioned, is capable of recording 1080p full HD video with a maximum frame rate of up to 20fps. It comes with 10 large infrared dimming lamps that claim to offer a night vision range of up to 10 metres. Its advanced AI motion detection feature reduces false alarms such as curtain movements, insects, and light changes. This function is disabled by default and needs to be switched on to get push notifications when motion is detected.

The security camera when paired with its app offers a talkback feature that comes with improved voice calls with full duplex voice call design. The Mi Home Security Camera Basic's app also supports picture-in-picture mode for multi-tasking on the phone, and lets users pair multiple cameras in different rooms and view all the rooms on one screen with the help of multiple view features. Xiaomi notes that this one-screen multiple-picture mode is only supported on mainstream mobile phones running on iOS and Android OS.

As for specifications, the Mi Home Security Camera Basic offers 5V-1A power input, microSD card support (up to 64GB, above class 10), and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz support.
