Dr. Shashi Tharoor to discuss future of higher education in India via Google+ hangout on Thursday evening

Minister of State for Human Resources Development Dr. Shashi Tharoor will take questions from netizens around the globe on the future of higher education in India via a Google+ hangout on Thursday evening.

In addition to being the Minister of State for Human Resources Development, Dr. Tharoor is an elected member of the Indian Parliament from the Thiruvananthapuram constituency in Kerala and a former Minister of State for External Affairs. He is amongst the most high profile adopters of social media in Indian political circles and a said to be a true believer in the power of the Internet.

Higher education is one of the principal drivers of the economic growth of a country and Dr. Tharoor will be addressing questions on challenges in higher education like faculty shortage, low number of accredited institutions and more. Dr Tharoor's Google+ Hangout will be moderated by NDTV journalist Sonia Singh.

The hangout will commence on Thursday, May 9th, at 7 p.m. (IST) and users from any part of the world can tune in by visiting the Google+ India page or by subscribing to YouTube channel InConversation. You can participate in this hangout by posting your questions for Dr. Tharoor on the event's Google+ page. You can also post your questions for the hangout on the NDTV website.

Since its launch in July 2011, the Google+ community has grown rapidly with more than 500 million users worldwide. Google+ Hangouts allow up to 10 people participating at a point of time to join the hangout. You can later share the hangout on YouTube or live stream it using Hangouts on Air.
