Craving a pizza? Tweet a pizza emoji to Domino's to quickly place an order. The feature is being rolled out to customers in the US from May 20 - making ordering a five-second exchange, as per reports quoting Domino's CEO Patrick Doyle.

This explains why Domino's has been tweeting the pizza emoji repeatedly on May 12.

As per reports, the ordering works using Domino's Easy Order system, and if you don't like emoji you can place an order by tweeting with the hashtag #EasyOrder to Domino's.

The Easy Order system is a part of Domino's app, which is an order you can set as a favourite in your profile on the Domino's app or website. Send the tweet, and you'll automatically order your favourite combination of pizzas and sides.

Of course, unlike the Domino's app which allows you to handle payments as well, tweeting for pizza means that you'd better have cash on hand, so it's probably a good thing that Domino's follows up your tweet with a DM to confirm the order, before someone shows up at your house with a pizza.

Doyle also said that Domino's has around 250 technology employees, and that over half the sales of the pizza chain come through digital orders, adding that Twitter was only the first step, and that we should expect more features of this sort in the future.

Ideally, that means that we'll also see these types of features make their way to other markets including India. Here, Domino's already supports ordering online and through a mobile application, uses social media to respond to customer complaints, and has also integrated with delivery services like Foodpanda to enable ordering, but in all these cases, the process of ordering is still slightly slow and cumbersome as you load details of each type of pizza and side order.
