The next-generation iPad has made a few unofficial appearances, including a recent one in 'Space Gray' avatar. We've also seen videos and pictures comparing the form factor of the fifth-generation iPad and the current generation one, and there's a new addition to that list.

A Chinese hardware components supplier, sw-box, has posted videos and pictures of the back-casing of the alleged iPad (fifth-generation). It also compares the purported next generation iPad with the fourth-generation one and the iPad mini.

In line with previous appearances, the fifth-generation iPad appears to be slimmer and sleeker than the previous generation iPad, and is based in design on the iPad mini. The video offers a comparison between the dimensions of the two iPads showing the difference in height (241.2mm for the fourth-fen iPad and 239.2mm for the fifth-gen iPad), width (185.70mm for the fourth-gen iPad and 169.5mm for the fifth-gen iPad) and thickness (9.4mm or the fourth-gen iPad and 7.2mm for the fifth-gen iPad). The video also shows that the fifth-generation iPad features a two-part volume rocker and an extra microphone at the back. The video also compares the alleged fifth-generation iPad to the iPad mini.

Just a few days back, a number of photos of the alleged next-generation iPad in the new 'Space Gray' and Silver colour, had appeared online.

A number of rumours, including a report by the credible Wall Street Journal, have suggested that Apple is modelling its next-generation iPad on the iPad mini in terms of design and form factor. The WSJ report suggested that the new iPad will feature the same touch-panel technology that's seen in the iPad mini, making it thin and light, and adds that Apple intends to use the film-based touch panel used in the iPad mini instead of the glass-based one that is sported by the full-sized iPad.

Apple is expected to unveil the new iPad tablets at an event in October, however, there's no official word from the company on the same.
