Highlights
  • Apple increases base storage on all iPad models to 32GB
  • iPad Pro (9.7-inch) to now start from $599
  • iPad Mini 2 will now be available with just 32GB storage option

Apple revealed its much anticipated iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at an event in San Francisco on Wednesday. In a widely expected move, the Cupertino-based tech giant decided to replace the base option of 16GB storage with a 32GB storage base variant for the new phones. While the company did not announce this at the event, a look at Apple’s website reveals that it has also brought its iPad line-up at par with the latest phones in terms of base storage, discontinuing its 16GB model for all iPad models.

As a result of this move by the company, iPad Pro models will now be available in 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage variants, while iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 4 will be available with storage options of 32GB and 64GB. iPad Mini 2 will now be just available with 32GB storage option.

Even though customers had been demanding the company to increase its base storage on devices for quite some time, it is good to see that the company has finally decided to act upon the feedback.  This effectively means that the iPad models have received a price cut as higher storage options will be now available at lower price.

The biggest price cut can be seen for iPad Pro (9.7-inch), whose 32GB, 128GB and 256GB variants now cost $599 (roughly Rs. 39,800), $699 (roughly Rs. 46,500), and $799 (roughly Rs. 53,100) respectively. Similarly for the 12.9 inch iPad Pro, you will now have to spend $799 for 32 GB storage option, $899 (roughly Rs. 59,800) for 128 GB, and $999 (roughly Rs. 66,400) for the 256 GB storage model. Apple’s India website has not been updated yet to reflect the new prices in the country. We will update this post as and when the prices are made available.

The 32GB variant of iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 4 will now cost you $399 (roughly Rs. 26,500), while the 128GB model of both these tablets will set you back by $499. iPad Mini 2 will now be available with just 32GB storage option at $269 (roughly Rs. 17,900).
