  • The mobile plan is being made available to select users only
  • There is a data cap of 500MB per day as part of the plan
  • Users need a 4G handset to avail the offer

Reliance Jio has changed the telecom landscape in India and the latest company to introduce an attractive plan (Internet data + unlimited calls) to counter the Jio offerings is Idea Cellular. As part of its new mobile prepaid pack, Idea is offering 500MB of Internet data per day along with free unlimited calls to its select users at just Rs. 348. This translates to 14GB when considering the 28 day validity of the pack, which appears to be a good proposition at the price.

Notably, this new offer is only being made available to select users with low average data consumption in order to encourage them to consume more Internet data. As we mentioned, users will effectively get 14GB of data a month and can place unlimited free calls to any network. Users are required to have a 4G handset (not a rarity any more thanks to Reliance Jio) but not a 4G-enabled SIM to avail this new offer from Idea.

It is important to note that this is still not an open market offer and can only be availed if the company chooses to extend you the offer. In order to check for your eligibility for this offer, you can download the 'My Idea' app from the Google Play store on Android or App Store on iOS.

After signing in with your Idea number, you can check the availability of the plan from the app-exclusive offers section. You can alternatively speak with customer care.

This move from the company doesn't come as a surprise as Reliance Jio has almost forced other telecom operators to come up with affordable mobile plans to fend off the threat posed by the Reliance Industries owned telecom company.
