  • BSNL's 4G connectivity is currently only available in Kerala circle
  • The new pack directly takes on the likes of Jio and Airtel
  • Users can also avail free access to Personalised Ring Back Tone (PRBT)

To take on Jio and Airtel in the Indian telecom sector, state-owned BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) on Tuesday introduced the new Rs. 448 Unlimited prepaid pack that offers unlimited voice calls (local/ STD/ roaming) and 1GB data per day (total 84GB). Apart from this, the BSNL Rs. 448 pack offers 100 SMS messages per day, and free access to PRBT (Personalised Ring Back Tone), and validity of 84 days. The pack is available across all BSNL telecom circles in India. Do note that the state-owned operator has 3G connectivity in most circles, with 4G present only in Kerala circle currently.

"BSNL is the only player [that] passes max benefits and forwarding most popular services to its esteemed customers, STV-448 is the most competitive in present market scenario," said RK Mittal, Director of the BSNL Board.

This pack directly takes on Reliance Jio's Rs. 449 pack that offers 1.5GB data per day, unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS messages per day with a validity of 91 days. Alternatively, Airtel also has a Rs. 448 pack that gives the user 1.4GB data per day, unlimited calling, 100 SMS messages per day; all this for a period of 82 days.

BSNL has been actively participating in the "unlimited pack" battle that is currently underway in the Indian telecom market. Just recently, the operator announced the new Rs. 999 recharge pack that offers unlimited calls for 181 days and 1GB data per day for a period of 365 days. However, this pack is not applicable in circles such as Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, and North East India.

Yet another prepaid pack priced at Rs. 1,099 offers truly unlimited data access, unlimited voice calls (domestic and roaming), and access to PRBT with a validity of 84 days. This is unlike packs offered by rivals including Airtel and Jio considering most of their packs have daily or monthly data restrictions.
