Apple has updated the colour selection range on its fitness-oriented Powerbeats2 Wireless earphones to match the Apple Watch Sport colours. The new colour options available are Blue, Black, Green, Pink, and White, and are the same shades as their Apple Watch Sport counterparts.

The move signals clear intent by Apple to focus audio accessories of the Beats brand on the Apple Watch ecosystem. The matching of colours is expected to draw users of the Apple Watch Sport to purchase matching Beats earphones such as the Powerbeats2 Wireless. The Watch comes with 2GB of inbuilt storage which can be used for playing music wirelessly when paired with Bluetooth audio products. The update to Watch OS 2 will have the Watch support many more audio applications.

The Powerbeats2 Wireless has gone on sale in the new colours through Apple Stores in certain markets, but is yet to arrive at other retailers.

Although the Powerbeats2 Wireless are aimed at Apple ecosystem users, the in-ear headphones will work on any device that supports Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, including Android and other compatible personal audio devices. There has been no price change for the earphones, and they are still available at the original price of $199.95 (approximately Rs. 12,800).

The Apple Watch is expected to be made available in seven more countries on June 26 and is already available in nine countries. A date for India availability is yet to be announced. This is one of Apple's first big moves to tie Beats products in with Apple products, after last year's high profile acquisition of the audio brand by Apple.
